A visual summary of Cal Newport's Deep Work

I first came into contact with sketch-noting earlier this year, when—out of the blue—I was gifted a brief subscription to verbal to visual. Since then, I've gradually incorporated the concept into my life, and I have to say, it's really impressive how many benefits it has. Knowledge is more securely anchored, understanding goes deeper, and best of all, whenever I want to recap something I've visually summarised, I have everything ready—and remember everything much faster.

The above sketch-note was my first attempt at distilling a book, something I've come to enjoy quite a lot since. Though I see a lot of room for improvement, I really like how it turned out, and I've already benefitted from it quite often. I regularly review it to reflect which of the book's many lessons I'd like to try next, and it never takes more than a minute. Even though I've only covered a few approaches so far (e.g. the productive mindfulness meditation), my focus has improved tremendously.

There are many books on productivity, and it can be difficult to find the ones that resonate—but I have a feeling that I'll return to this one for a long time.
